.Guinea Fowl from Frit's Farm

.......

I raise the common Helmeted Guinea Fowl in a variety of colors. My birds free range daily, and are not separated by color. I do not incubate every egg that I find, but "hatch to order".

Please read all of the following information before you email a request for keets or eggs:

I hatch keets to help others who desire less than a large order get started. This is usually 4-12 keets - far less than the typical 25-30 from a hatchery.

Colors of keets will vary due to free ranging guinea fowl who select their own mates. Keets may be any variety (color) from crosses between my pearl, lavender, coral blue, royal purple,  chocolate, powder blue, slate, violet, and buff dundotte breeders.

Eggs can be picked up or shipped when available. Sometimes a few older keets or adults may be available. All keets or adult guinea fowl are to be picked up at our farm located off Rt 42 between Dayton and Cincinnati in Warren County in Ohio. I will not ship live animals.

Orders will be filled in the order in which they are received by snail-mail.  Your order will be added to my waiting list. I will contact you for confirmation when I have eggs or keets to fill your order or to begin incubation. If I will be hatching keets for you, I will give an approximate hatch at that time,  but I cannot guarantee to fill your order "by a certain date".

I can usually incubate eggs beginning late March and hatch keets from April through August as nests and eggs are located. (occasionally later, depending on the weather.)

To be placed on my waiting list: Prepayment is required for "YOUR" special order. If less keets hatch than what you order, I will refund the difference. If more keets hatch than what you order, I may offer them to you free of charge.

Keets are sold straight run - keets are not sexed until they are eight+ weeks old. Prices increase with age to cover costs of heat, bedding, feed and care. By 16 weeks of age (during season), young guinea pullets can begin laying eggs.

A *starter kit* is available for those who pick up eggs or keets at the farm. The kid includes a ziplock bag of the feed your keets have been eating, a small ziplock bag of  millet for training and a copy of Gardening with Guineas, a step by step guide to raising guinea fowl from egg through adult. Reading Gardening with Guineas before you pick up your keets is highly recommended so that you will know how to transport and care for your keets properly. The book can also be purchased through www.guineafowl.com or purchased locally from: .

Please read this entire page prior to emailing me. Thank you!

Fertility of hatching eggs is not guaranteed.  How you store, handle, transport and care for the eggs PLUS the reliability and type of incubator including humidity and temperature control will affect the hatch rate.

Member of the National Poultry Improement Play. This breeding stock has been blood tested and is pullorum-typhoid free." Frit's Farm participates in the National Poultry Improvement Plan. All poultry on Frit's farm is blood tested and certified pullorum-typhoid free. When picking up your order at the farm, you will be asked to wear protective shoe-covering (provided free), or asked to remain in your vehicle. I take extra precaution to protect the health and safety of my flock and your keets.

Please note that Frit's Farm is an online farm open for visitors 24/7 but is not to be confused with our home and private residence. Many people have asked about dropping in to tour our farm. I am sorry, but we are not open to the public for tours. The danger of illness to our free-ranging flock being brought in by visitors is too great. Also, we do not have public facilities nor do we carry extra insurance for public tours. I hope that you understand our position.

The following table notes my price list. If interested, please Email me to see what is available or to be placed on my waiting list. I will need your name, address, phone number and email address. Thank you. Jeannette Ferguson (aka Frit)
