A photo of a group of East African Guineafowl from Somalia and the Sudan.

They are from Eastern Kenya and Somalia. Here is a photo of a guineafowl from Namibia. It is my understanding that the Reichenowi has a wide range that includes Eastern South Africa and most of Kenya. We actually imported two groups. One group is Somalian and the other Kenyan. The Somalian birds did not fare as well as we had hoped. Crosses between the two have fared well. If you would like to know what the different forms of helmeted guineafowl the final picture is a field guide to help determine the difference between the forms. I wish I had some Mitred but have not managed to import any. - information and photos courtesy of Kermit in Vermont
