| It is easiest to
tame guineas when starting with day old keets. If keets are handled
several times daily (for long periods each time) and it is kept up until
they are full grown, you can produce adult guinea fowl who are just as
tame as any other pet.
Please note, taming guineas to be hand held and petted is not necessary. These photos are here to show that the challenge IS possible. If you have a picture suited for this page, please send it in! Send email to: Frit |

Use slow movements so
as not to frighten young keets. Lower your hand
into the brooder and remain still. Allow the keets to investigate.

First the lap and shoulder.
Allow them to sit without force.
Avoid sudden, fast movements.

She is now become a house resident and thinks she is a dog!
I thought this picture was too cute and wanted to share it with you for your

Handle
keets as often as possible beginning the day they hatch.
(Often = hours daily, not minutes)
Choosing one or two keets to handle per person - it
is not possible to handle
a large order/hatch of keets to be as tame as the adults
pictured further down the page.
